Having a period and Pap smear?

Hey so my annual is coming up and it’s close to my placebo week? I’m on a 4 day placebo period and last month my period came on the third day and last 4 days into active pills. This time it will land on my annual exam. Will the doctor still let me do my Pap smear or will I need to call and reschedule? I want to reschedule it for earlier than my placebo week but for some reason they don’t want to because of my insurance but honestly at this point I don’t care.

No, they won’t do it. You’ll have to reschedule. And if you want insurance to cover it, it has to be around or after your last one(i.e. if it was
April 16, 2017, you’d have to schedule it April 16, 2018 or later).

I had my pap when my period was ending. Their was still blood on the swab and my pap came back normal.

Just reschedule for the week after your period. There’s no way I’d consider having a pap while on my period & I highly doubt they’d perform it either.

In Australia you can still have the Pap smear but you have to pay extra to have an extra test (something they do in the lab - you don’t actually need to have any more testing done). Not sure if they do that in other countries!

I got mine done on my period , they said as long as it was light then it’s fine.

I started my period when I got to the office for my pap this year, they said as long as it was light they could do it and it was just spotting and my pap was fine.
