Baby wants to eat or be soothed?

Question

My baby will be 3 months old tomorrow and she’s slept through the night for 4 nights in a row but last night was really rough I didn’t get up to feed her and wondering if I should I got up and rocked her a few times and it worked but only for a little bit how do I know if she just wants to be cuddled or if she’s hungry? First time mom here any advice will help! Just because she’s slept through the night doesn’t mean she will every night right??

Every time my baby got up I tried to feed irregardless. That’s the only way you’ll really know. If she rejects than you know she just wants to be soothed but if she eats than you know she’s hungry.

At 3 months she easily could still need overnight feeds.

Learn your babies language then you will know what he/she wants ☺️

It’s super rare for a baby to sleep through the night so enjoy it when it happens but SO many changes and developments are happening in the first year of babies life that they often still need to eat, sometimes cluster feed, at night to help with all the growing!

My son sometimes would still want to eat around 3 months. I’d make him a 4oz bottle and sometimes he’d only take 2 and be fast asleep. Some nights he’d finish the whole thing. When he consistently was only drinking 2oz or even 1oz out of the 4, I knew he didn’t NEED the food he just wanted it. So he could make it through the night without. If their still waking after that I’d offer a binky if you allow that. My son became content just with sucking his binky after he didn’t NEED the food. There is a very clear cut different between a baby wants and needs. When they realize they don’t need it they can do without. Were there nights that i just fed him so i could sleep?! YES. Always remember .... 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Sometimes we always think we have completely gotten through a phase and it blows up in your face the second you get comfortable. It is OK because guess what ... it’s just a phase 🙂
