Military wife’s help a girl outtt!

Ok so I’m getting married in December to my wonderful man. Well he’s army and we’re talking about at the details after the fact because getting marring esp in the military’s eyes is a big deal. My question is... is it better to live on base or off base starting out? I feel like I’d be cheaper on. But if we live off wouldn’t we get a housing “allowance”? I was military but I just lived in the barracks lol and never had to think of theses decisions so I need help/advice etc!! Btw we’d be on fort Stewart, GA
