Pregnant but still have period?

Has anyone had any actual experience of having a heavy/normal period and then finding out you are pregnant? Just wondering how common this is as I am getting pregnancy type symptoms but I did have my cycle last month.

Okay.... so just a couple of days before I found out that I’m pregnant I got my period... first I had brown spotting.. then it turned into a period.. full blown , heavy, dark red, maybe one or two clots, last 6 whole days... got a BFP just a couple of days later .. I am now 11 weeks 3 days with a very healthy baby.. so I don’t give a damn what everyone else THINKS because it literally happened to me.. my period came exactly on the day it was expected to come too.. my baby is nice , strong, and healthy.. so yes although it may be rare, it’s possible.

You can't get your period when you're pregnant. You can have vaginal bleeding, but it's not a period. On a different note, my first pregnancy symptoms were identical to my pre-menstrual ones. I actually thought I was about to get my period, but turned out I was pregnant!

I know PMS and pregnancy symptoms mimic each other so it might be that. The only way to know if you’re pregnant is to take a test.
