me and my boyfriend just had sex and the condom broke and he pulled out but not soon enough, so some of his cum got inside me. i took plan b last month, like literally a month ago because the same exact thing happened to us. we’re always careful and i’m on the pill and i never miss it and take it every single day at the same time. i didn’t have any side effects when i took it last month which was lucky, but i’m wondering if i should take it again now because i know you shouldn’t take it often, but it gives me peace of mind and i don’t know why but i don’t trust the pill to do its job. i just feel unlucky. has this happened to anyone else? should i take it or not take it?

You shouldn't take plan b more than three times a year or it can become dangerous to your health. If you're on birth control that you take regularly and correctly, there really isn't much of a need for plan b. That's why birth control exists...for these reasons.

When they say not to take it often, it’s referring to people who feel like plan b is a birth control pill. They take it all day, every day.

No, if ur on the pill & taking it properly, then there’s absolutely no need to take Plan b. Those pills are for emergencies only, when no other method of protection is being used or if u have legit reason to believe ur protection is compromised. Ur taking ur regular pills as u should, therefore, THAT is ur main protection & u need to trust it. If u can’t trust it, then consider using an even more effective method of birth control like the implant or an iud, and/or use spermicide as extra protection. Also, make sure the condoms ur using are the correct size & aren’t expired, because they definitely shouldn’t be breaking so often.
