Birth Story

K'LeeAnn

I started having contractions 3 days before I went into labor. Mostly just Braxton hicks, not painful but uncomfortable and annoying. Also pretty much only when I was at work. I went to my 38 week appointment and was dilated to a 2 and 80% thinned with him at a -2. So the doctor said it could pretty much be anytime. The next day I went to work and my contractions started back up just like before and continued all day. Then as I was walking out after clocking out, about 10pm, I had a contraction accompanied by cramplike pain. So I pick up my son from my parents and go home to try to sleep off the contractions, since going to bed normally stopped them. I fell asleep a couple times but every contraction woke me up and it quickly got to the point that I couldn't be still during them. At this point they told me I could walk around to see if that bumped up my labor and it definitely did. In 45 mins I went from being able to tolerate the contractions to being bent over in pain. They checked me again and I had gone from a 2 to a 5 and thinned to 90%. I opted for the epidural right away. By 530am I was completely thinned out and dilated to 9 cm. The dr had to break my water for me, I pushed for a maybe a half hour and had my baby boy at 708am. He weighed 7lbs 4oz and was 20.5in long. I was blown away at how quickly he came
