My birth stories - Babe #3
Fast forward 2 years and we were due with our 3rd baby, a baby girl. This time I was so determined to get my dream natural birth, I planned a home birth and took hypno birthing classes :)
This baby followed her big brothers footsteps and due date came and went. I went for a Biophysical profile ultrasound at 41.2 weeks, the ultrasound took a very long time, he tech was saying my daughter was being difficult and there were a couple things she needed but wasnt getting no matter how many times she had me change positions or cough or pee. I guess they give your baby a score for certain things at this point and my daughter failed for 2 of them so they had me stick around and they contacted my midwives. I was told to meet her at the hospital for a non stress test. At this point I was worried that I was going to be induced again or that something was wrong with my baby. I get to the hospital and havent felt my daughter move at this point. And even after being hooked up to the NST for a bit I wasn't feeling anything. My midwife grabbed me a popsicle and that woke her right up. Since it was Feiday my midwife said they would schedule me another ultrasound for Monday in case she didnt come by then.
That night was a normal night, until I started feeling tightening in my stomach around 11, I didnt think.much of it at first cause it wasnt painful it just made me stop and go huh.. but then I noticed it was happening every 8 to 10 min. I knew it was just the start of it was anything at all so I knew I should try and rest... but I was just too excited this was my first time going into labour on my own I couldn't sleep for nothing. I got in a bath, cleaned a bit eventually tried to sleep but it was broken. By morning they were closer together but still not regular but I let my dad and his girlfriend know they should probably come by soon since they were watching my older two while I was having the baby. They get to our hour around 9
I called our midwife to let her know she said I was still too irregular for it to be close and to page her when they are closer and more frequent or of my water breaks. I get off the phone and 45 min later my water breaks she comes to the house checks me and I am only 2 cm. After another hour still only 2 cm at this point it is really starting to hurt and it is all in my back. I opted to try the sterile water injections which they give you in your back. They said it feels like a bad bee sting but hoooooooly shit it hurt! But it worked for about half an hour 45 min. She checked me again and still at a 2. she said they are closer but still pretty irregular and at this point I was like I want all the drugs so away went my plan of a natural home birth and headed to the hospital each contraction I swear I was leaking out so much amniotic fluid I dont know how there was still any left. By the time we get to the hospital which is a 5 min drive. I was that woman... the one making a scene and screaming through every contraction. I get registered and sent to birthing triage where I am still only 2 cm I was sobbing and defeated my midwife talked them into admitting me and getting the epidural because of how long its been and how much pain I was in. I get into a room and they give me the nitrous oxide to help cope....that was an experience. The anesthesiologist was in a c section sinead taking forever. the gas helped between contractions apparently I was very loopy and almost like a drunk person. The contractions got fo bad I was begging to just be knocked out and that I couldn't do it and was honestly not myself. 2 hours later the anesthesiologist finally shows up and he starts to give me his mandatory speech about risks and all that. I snap was was like "Pain, paralysis or death... it all sounds great let's just do this"... once that was done and it kicked in I was mortified and apologizing to everyone cause that just wasnt me. 20 min after getting the epidural the nurse checked me and I was at 8cmm! I rested since I was absolutely exhausted. 6:22 the nurse asked me if felt up to trying to push, 5 minutes and 4 pushes later I had my baby girl in my arms.
