Is anyone on social assistance in Canada but common law? Not filed as single?  Is it even worth it? Will you even get enough to get by? 2 kids ,one on the way ..
Might I add the common law partner is now out of work and can’t get ei so have to turn to this until work pops up!  So both mother and father get no income other then childtax for their two kids .

Social assistance isn't much but it's better than nothing so what can it hurt to apply and get what they are willing to give you? EI does give quite a bit more obviously but social assistance does take into consideration the number of people in the family etc. Amount depends on family size / family income but also on province / territory. It's not enough to get by comfortably, to be honest. But if it is temporary you should be able to make it work.

depends on the province but usually they will take off whatever income your partner makes dollar for dollar on your check. you have to declare it and if he makes more than what your entitled too you wont be eligible for social assistance.

I would think you would get more if your single... I guess depends on if the person you were with is also on it or not and what their income is? I’m not sure about how it works... if you aren’t single though don’t claim single, I know people who did that and had to pay back thousands for their child tax.
