I was laid off from my job yesterday (3 weeks after disclosing my pregnancy to my employer). Their reasons were legitimate (they are having to make cutbacks because of changes being made) but my friend was given my job (she had been there longer and had more experience) but I was not given the same opportunity. I have more experience in another role than a girl who was hired after me. I was also the only employee let go. Is this grounds for discrimination? And if so how should I go about handling this? I have spoken with an attorneys office. They are supposed to get back to me. This is my first pregnancy and I can’t believe this happened.
