Spotting/Bleeding/Appt

I'm not the one to post a lot but i do have a quick question.

I have had small amounts of light brown, light pink and dark brown spotting on and off since 5 weeks. On saturday will be 8 weeks and the past two days i've had some brick red mucusy discharge and cramping. I have an appt tomorrow morning. What did your doctor do when you went in for an appt to follow up on bleeding?
