Is it possible for a doctor to tell you exactly how long you've been living with HSV?
I'm getting a mixture of answers. Some say yes and some say no.

No,there is no way of knowing exactly how long you've had HSV.
If a IgM blood test is positive that means its a recent exposure. 
If IgM test is negative but a IgG test is positive you've had it longer then 3-6 months
