Immunizations?

Question

Hey ladies, just wanted to make a post to get some opinions on what you think about getting your baby immunized. Also, what are your thoughts on getting the flu shot while pregnant? My SO is super against any of this but I just want to get a full spectrum on the topic to gather some more information about.

I got the flu shot already at 6 weeks, as did the guy. i lost a pregnancy due to severe illness from the flu and I work with the public, with means there is a lot of risk of getting sick. the flu shot is safe at any time in your pregnancy (the nasal spray is not safe during pregnancy) and it takes about a month for the vaccine to be fully effective, so getting it now is better than later. its also free through almost every insurance company. 
i will also be getting the needed vaccines and vaccinating my baby, because I dont want my baby to die from a horrible, preventable disease.

I did the TDAP and flu shot during my last pregnancy.  I originally turned the flu shot down at 12 weeks, but ended up being sick from Oct-Jan.  I was over it, got the flu shot and all of my respiratory issues went away.  This time I will be getting the flu shot when they begin offering it in October and will get another TDAP around 30 weeks.  My 16 month old is fully vaccinated.  Obviously, that means I’m for it.  I just wanted to let you know that if you plan on not vaccinating your child you should probably start looking for pediatricians/GP’s asap.  I considered spreading my son’s shots out and through research and conversations with pediatrician offices in my town, none of them will accept your child if you are delaying or not vaccinating.  Make sure you find the right place for you ahead of time!

I personally got all vaccines while pregnant with my daughter except the flu shot because it was the middle of summer. She also is up to date on all of her vaccinations right now too. I personally believe you should , but other people will say you shouldn’t. That is a decision that has to be made by you and your husband.

I did not get the flu shot while pregnant because it was not flu season. I was way too early in my pregnancy to get the flu shot. I did get the Tdap vaccine after birth because unfortunately I was far too busy prior to giving birth to get it beforehand. I went into labor a couple days before I was going to get it but it’s highly recommended during pregnancy.
