Question

Western Australia has experienced its 3rd mass family killing since May this year.
In May, a man killed his wife, daughter, 4 grandchildren then himself.
In July, a 19 year old killed his mother, brother and sister.
On Sunday, it was discovered a man had killed his wife, 3 daughters and mother in law. They had been dead for at least a week before they were discovered.
Do you think domestic violence is a bigger threat than terrorism?

Depends on what you are looking at.
It’s certainly more common than actual acts of terrorism.
I don’t know the stats off hand but I imagine more people have been killed in domestic violence incidents than by terrorism.
So on an individual level, you’re more likely to be involved in domestic violence than in a terrorist attack and some may consider that then to be a bigger threat.
On a national level, though, you have to look at national impact. While domestic violence is awful and not to be tolerated, it doesn’t have the same far reaching impact that terrorism can.
Terrorism can affect the economy, good or bad.
 
Terrorism can be used to justify counter attacks or wars, begetting more violence and more innocent lives lost.
Terrorism has the potential to affect the infrastructure and services we rely on for our day to day lives.
So in that respect, I wouldn’t see it as a greater threat.

I think it’s all a form of terrorism. Most domestic violence survivors will say they lived in terror. Just because a person is only terrorizing their family doesn’t mean they aren’t still a terrorist.

If you compare DV to terrorist attacks, then I would actually say yes, DV is a bigger threat.
You're far more likely to lose your life to DV, than a terrorist attack. On an individual level, the fear, anxiety, threats, dangers, etc. Are much bigger when you're a victim of DV, as in the case of DV, you specifically are the target. In a terrorist attack, the target is the general public, so the chances of you being caught in that are far less. I am 100% more terrified of being a victim at the hands of my abusive husband, than I am of being a victim of terrorism.
However, as said by #eyeroll, I completely agree that DV is a form of terrorism.

I can’t think of a time where a case of domestic violence wiped out hundreds or even thousands of people

I would say so as I live in the province with the highest reported and unreported cases of domestic violence. 
At the same time depending on the type of domestic violence it can fall into domestic terrorism too. So I guess it depends in the end if you are talking about domestic or international terrorism.

Of course it is! In the US alone, almost 3 people on average die every day from domestic violence. Terrorism deaths doesn't come close to that.
