Is it ok for a step parent to refer to a child as 'theirs'?

My sisters ex husband has got a new girlfriend, who he has been seeing for just under a year. Today I saw she updated her profile picture to a photo of my sisters daughter, tagging my sisters ex husband and the caption was 'our beautiful girl'. Do you think this is acceptable?
