Should people be able to dictate what you buy with a gift card they gave you?
This past weekend was my baby shower. I got quite a few target gift cards and used them to buy things I didn't get. Well one of my aunts asked me what all I got (she was one of the ones who got me a gift card) with all the gift cards I was given. I told her I bought some clothes for the baby, pacifiers, baby wash & lotion, along with a couple nursing bras, and toiletries I would need for my hospital bag. She then got extremely defensive, said the gift cards were for the baby and I should have used my own money for the things that were for me. She also said everyone that got a gift card would feel the same way as she did. I just figured since I needed nursing bras for the baby, it wasn't a big deal. It's not like I bought myself some perfume or a small kitchen appliance. So do you guys think people should be able to dictate what you spend your gift cards on? Was I wrong?
