hospital water birth

just curious if any of your mamas have had a hospital water birth? I was able to have one with my first, with a midwife. It was the most amazing experience....my midwife moved not long after I gave birth. I have since been seeing the OB she worked under & think he’s absolutely wonderful. When I recently mentioned birthing my second in the water, his exact response was “you can deliver in any position you want, except in the water.” There are whirlpools in each delivery room that will allow me to labor in but b/c of ACOG guidelines, my Dr will not let me birth in.

Noooooooo. I am crushed!!! Anyone have any insight to help override his concerns/wishes? We live in a very rural area with no birth centers near so the option to switch providers isn’t possible. Other hospitals in the area are not equipped to provide such services.
