Crazy Asian old wives tales

So we officially announced to family last night that we are expecting (yay!) Well....my mother-in-law went into full crazy mode 🤦🏻‍♀️ My MIL is very adamant on me moving to her house after I give birth (she lives 4-5 hours away), so she can take care of me. Sounds good right? Except I would have to leave my husband behind, and she also wants me to NOT shower/bathe for a whole month. I am only allowed to “steam” and wipe away the sweat for the first month. I also can’t leave the house for the entire first month. The theory is you’re weak after giving birth, and the cold water will seep into the pores of your hair, into your body, and make you sick and give you headaches. She also wants us to just leave our baby with her, and we would come visit “every month or so” when we have time. Yall. I love my MIL, but I think this is straight up crazy. She was getting SO mad that my husband and I were arguing back saying no to her demands. She legit kept telling me I’m going to suffer if I don’t listen to her. That’s just some of the restrictions she listed for me. Even my mom who is also a traditional asian woman thought everything was quite excessive.

Anyone else have crazy old wives tales that they’re expected to follow?? Anyone believe this stuff is legit?
