Is this normal newborn behaviour?

My baby boy is 3 weeks old and for the past 2 weeks at least once a day he cries and screams uncontrollably for anything from 1 - 3 hours and we try everything we can to settle him from feeding, changing, cooling him off, bopping him, swaying him, burping him...eventually something works but it’s never the same remedy. 
It’s so exhausting and I hate seeing him distress thinking there’s nothing I can do. He goes bright red and it’s like he’s going to make himself sick. 
I’m currently breastfeeding and expressing, feeding him on demand so there is no routine yet. 
Does anyone else’s baby have this? It happens most often in the early evenings and it gives us headaches, makes us more tired and frustrates us so my husband and I tag team it!

Sounds like the witching hour (always lasted 3 with my son). It's quite normal for a baby to have some time everyday where they just won't settle and are really grumpy.

Sounds like colic Hun.. I would have a little read about it and see if it matches what your going through. My oldest had colic and acid reflux he was fine through the day but soon as it hit the evening 7pm till 1am he wouldn’t stop crying. We used colic drops and change his milk to comfort milk(colic milk as my breastmilk dried up).. this lasted till he was 3months old and he grow out of it then..

Id say the same as the other ladies have, it does sound like colic, my son had it really bad we was back and forth to the doctors daily as i was terrified something was wrong, they told me it was colic and to try and elevate his moses basket when he sleeps. A friend of mine told me about a tiny bottle called colif its £12 a bottle in shops but omg it did the trick we also swopped his bottles to anti colic and thank god it worked, maybe try the colif see if it helps at all xx

Sounds like colic, my little girl now six months had it really bad til she was about three and a half months. Would scream for bourse continuously!! For us it wasn’t always the evening, sometimes she would have a session mid day or morning which made going out difficult for us. 
Try colic bottles, infacol helped, gripe water, winding them a lot. Try to feed when they wake not when going to sleep, sit them more upright when feeding. Also try swaddling, my little girl would normally calm down after a bit when we did this 👍🏼
Make sure you get help and company. I found it extremely isolating when she was very little and would avoid going out as I got embarrassed if she went into a screaming fit (she is extremely loud🤦🏽‍♀️) but your not alone. Try to go to groups, out with friends, to family and friends house as you can get very easily depressed having a baby with colic as it’s soooo hard.  I used to hate it when people would say my baby cries a lot as well but it’s not the same. People don’t understand how hard and continuous it is. But don’t give up!! You can do this!!

My son’s colic lasted from 7w-12w. Hang in there. It’s rough.

Hey, I haven’t had my baby yet, but this sounds very similar to how my friends daughter was, all of a sudden at 2/3 weeks old. It turned out she had silent reflux so she wasn’t actually being sick. As someone who has acid reflux myself I can say it’s bloody horrible, so goodness knows what the poor little babies feel. She went to the doctors where they diagnosed it, I think they gave her baby gaviscon. Hope you find out for sure soon and your little one gets better x
