Where do you get hcg tests?

#FTM! My dr only sees pregnant moms at 8-10 weeks and so I’m wondering where everyone is having their hcg tests done. Are you requesting a blood test at your dr’s office lab? Does insurance cover that? Or are there at home tests? The waiting period is killing me! 😂 btw I’m 5wks 2days. Thanks!!

I have had previous ectopic and miscarriage so they are watching numbers to make sure everything is ok. If I didn’t have a previous history they normally don’t do them.

My PCP  has been monitoring mine because I have had bleeding for two weeks and have a history of slow rising hCG. Even with my history, she didn't start monitoring my levels until I started bleeding.

I work in a hospital so I literally just our phlebotomist to draw my blood lol but some doctor offices do them early if you have history. I’m only 4 weeks and my doctor ordered 3 repeats because of my previous miscarriage

They're usually only done if there is a faint line on a test (that was the case with my first), history of miscarriage/ectopic, or risk of miscarriage/ectopic. I was high risk for ectopic this time so I've been monitored closely with blood draws and ultrasounds to verify the pregnancy is in my uterus. These things aren't standard, though.

Not everyone is having them done. Some docs monitor some women extra if they have a history that warrants it. I have had miscarriages and no doc in my area will monitor me extra. I have to wait until 8 weeks like the majority of their patients (and some people have docs that wait until 10 or 12 weeks so I consider 8 pretty good). Be patient and if you don't have a history that warrants the extra attention, consider yourself lucky.
