I was scheduled to be induced today at 6 am but little guy had other plans. I started having somewhat painful contractions around 9 pm last night. Around 10:30 they started getting 3-4 minutes apart and more painful. We headed to the hospital around 11:30 and made it to L&D around 12. When the nurse checked me I was dilated to 4cm with a bulging bag of water. After about an hour I finally caved and asked for some IV pain medication. Over the next few hours I was given 4 doses without any effect. Finally around 4:30 I asked to go to the bathroom. The nurse checked me first and I was at 9.5cm. That walk to the bathroom was the worst. The urge to push was so strong. After peeing and making it back to bed the midwife came in and broke my water. Omg the pressure and urge to push tripled after that. The nurses got everything set up and I started pushing. I only had to push 3-4 times but for some reason it was much harder than it was with my first. But I did it and he was born at 5:03am. He weighs 7lbs 7oz and is 20.2 inches long.
