Paraguard or hormone iud?

Question

I’m 16 years old, never have been pregnant or anything, my period is very irregular though. Me and my boyfriend have been having sex for a couple months now so I’ve been very interested in getting an iud. In my opinion it seems like the best birth control available, but i don’t know if my age would cause harm or complications. I also don’t know which type of iud would be best for me, though I’m leaning more towards the paraguard iud. I would love to hear of any teenagers’ experiences and anyone’s opinion :)   is

I’m 16 and have had a hormonal IUD for about a year and a bit now! I’m finding it absolutely amazing! I mean insertion and a short while after that was uncomfortable but otherwise it’s worked wonders for me by stopping my period and giving me a long term option for contraception :) while it may not be the best option for everyone, I can sure recommend it ☺️ hope this helps!

I’m 21 and have the Paraguard. It’s great. Low maintenance. It does hurt getting it inserted. I recommend it. It’s probably the best birth control since you never have to think about it.

I just turned 18 last week! I got my Kyleena, the Hormonal IUD, about almost a month ago. Before I got it they had me take the pill to see if thats a better option for me. But I was horrible at remembering when to take it. The IUD is great because its sorta low maintenance (except for the fact that you have to check your strings every once and a while) and it’s over 99% effective. They also vary in size. For example, Skyla is the smallest (Hormonal IUD) and Paraguard (Copper IUD) is the biggest. Some symptoms are diverse as well with different types of IUD’s.  I’ll have to admit though, I was in a lot of pain after they inserted it but I recovered quickly. I rarely get cramps. Although some women heal differently. 
But with whatever decision you make—hormonal or copper, getting an IUD is definitely worth it!

I have had the Mirena and the paraguard. Had the mirena and loved it! Got it removed to get pregnant and got the paraguard after my sons birth since it’s non hormonal and have had nothing but problems. Literally bled so much I was changing a super+ tampon once an hour. For month and my gyno said my body needed to adjust. It was awful! Def recommend the Mirena! Had it 5 years with no issues and no period.

I just turned 18, on saturday, and got my IUD inserted on monday.
my periods before the insertion were regular, but ever since i started having sex frequently ivegotten paranoid about condoms not working perfectly and had a slipping accident which made me want to look into “double protection” methods
it was either the pill or an iud for the possibilities in my country and since i suck at life i knew a daily pill would be the last thing i would religiously take - i even forget my phone and i’m always on it
after talking to the gyno she suggested the jaydess as its small and suitable for women who have not given birth. (i belive its not a paraguard, nor a copper one -it’s the one that emits hormone dosage for 3 yrs)
the insertion hurt by the end, you could feel a poke and then mild cramping. 
nothing too extreme, but i still took painkillers after i got home to manage studying effectively and to be able to sleep well
so far ive been having bleeding, but it’s basically the second day and apparently spotting is normal the first few months 
hopefully the cramps go though):
as a birth control method it’s one of the safest, it even might stop your period blood, but obviously no sti protection
i would not be concerned about age, its better to have the pain of an iud insertion than to go through a possible abortion when teenagers - ask your parents, gyno, and think through pros and cons
