Pregnancy before first cycle after d and c

I just had my d and c yesterday, I’ve had a great recovery, no cramps or bleeding really so far. My doctor said we should wait until my first cycle before trying again. I’ve read so many stories of peoples doctors saying they can try whenever their ready that I’m thinking it’s just a doctors preference thing? I’m just curious if any of you did get pregnant before your first cycle and how that went. I can’t wait that long to start trying again!! Thank you:)
