Are you calculating due date based on ovulation or LMP?

I had my last period on Aug 12, with is lasting about 4 days of a 34 day cycle. My opk was positive around August 30. One app tells me 5 weeks, another says 4. I'm trying to guesstimate because I have my first appointment soon, and I'm not sure if an US would be worth it considering it's so early.

I am going off of ovulation since I know when I ovulated. my cycles are longer then normal and I ovulated a full week after most women would of. Most OBGYN go off of LMP because they don't know the exact dates. If you have the information why not use it?

I have the same question! I had my LMP on 8/6 and a positive OPK for 8/26, so I ovulated late. I’m going with LMP date for now, but excited for our first appointment on 10/4 to see what my midwife says.

ovulation. but the dates between my LMP and ovulation date are only a day apart so I'm not too worried.

Lmp only works for a28 day cycle.  I have 34-35 day cycles so I had to go off ovulation.

I think LMP will be more accurate and it’s what medical staff will use to give you a date as it’s the most reliable way they can do it. The only thing you know for sure is the date of your last period. 
If you count 40 weeks from when you the you ovulated, that will be too long so you’d need to try to adjust it. Given that nobody really knows exactly how long babies take to arrive, that’s going to be difficult to do accurately which is why LMP is used to guess and you’re given a month widow in which you’re likely to give birth (with your estimated due date in the middle) as that’s more accurate. The thing that probably makes more sense is to adjust the due take to take into account your menstrual cycle length (there are calculators online that can do this for you) as there’s some evidence that those with longer cycles tend to give birth a little later but it’s not completely proven. My doctor adjusted my estimated date taking this into account. I wouldn’t get too hung up on a date though as there’s a real possibility you won’t deliver on that date anyway as some babies need more time and some need less which is why it’s better to just assume you’ll probably give birth in the window that’s 2 weeks either side of the due date :) x

I’m going by LMP even though I tracked ovulation. The docs will go by LMP usually, so that’s what I’m going with. It’s only a two day difference in my case.

So my cycles are 30 days and glow nuture has the correct due date based on first day of last cycle and cycle length. When I made my appointment for my first prenantal they go by the first day of last period so I’m 2 days off. From what I’m reading, a lot of people on this app go off of their period and they aren’t as far as along as they thought. I’m going to stick with the app prediction until my first appt.
