Definitely not worth the risk. No setting or birth plan is more important than “healthy mom/ healthy baby”. That involves intermittent monitoring, IV access, and access to an OR and trained newborn resuscitation providers. You can have an absolutely textbook perfect pregnancy, labor etc and still wind up with a life-threatening problem during labor/ delivery or the post-partum period. This is exactlywhat happened to me. 3 days early, spontaneous labor, uneventful labor, quick/ easy (though painful) delivery and then I lost half my blood volume. Absolutely no warning or risk factors. Likely would have lost more or even died had I not been in a hospital with well-trained healthcare professionals and all of the equipment/ medications, etc necessary. 
Definitely doing a hospital birth again this time around.

Birth center for me, which is across from a hospital with a great NICU. I was open to a home birth, but my husband is too chicken 🐔

No, way too risky. I want to have a doctor nearby in case anything goes wrong. I’m not taking any chances when the life of a baby is at stake.

Homebirth is great if everything goes perfectly, but my babe is more important to me than birth setting. If something were to go wrong and we were too far from a hospital (seconds matter with newborns) I would never forgive myself.

I would have love to but it cost too much...so i will birth at home with a doula till last possible minute and then go to hospital
