I’m asking this as I work in the hospitality industry and as part my job I often deal with all cultures coming to visit Canada and this past summer I have found that a reoccurring issue we have been having is the verbal abuse/ assault received by our staff by our Americans guest. Almost weekly we have incidence where they will harass the staff calling them useless and pathetic. We are a four star restaurant and have always had great ratings but I find it is almost as if they are enjoying being rude and mean to us.

Disclaimer I know not all Americans are like that I do get the sweetest couples. I’m just wondering if it’s something that is just happening because they are on vacation or if this is a regular thing that happens?

Example: one guest from a southern state asked to be served by a white server

I asked one gentleman how he would like his martini made (vodka/gin stirred/shaken dirty/dry)and he responded “ like a normal fucken martini, I would think at a place like this they wouldn’t hire people who don’t know how to fucken make a simple martini)
