Breastfeeding?

I had a hard time breastfeeding my first child and I really want to breastfeed with this one. Any suggestions in how to produce more milk?

You should go to a class, join support groups and get all the factual information you can. It's not one thing you can do. It's multiple factors. Putting baby to breast as soon as you can after delivery. Fluid intake. Being consistent. And there are other things

lots and lots of water and food. The more your breasts are emptied the more milk you make. Talk with an LC, join a group like le leche league. I was not successful with nursing my first baby. I pumped until my milk ran out at 4 months. I fully intend to try again. If not nursing, definitely pumping.

There are lots of ways to help increase your breastfeeding success. Skin to skin right after baby is born and breastfeeding within the first hour of birth if at all possible or hand expression during that first hour really helps with setting up your milk supply. You should find a lactation counselor in your area they are a great resource. They may even be one at your hospital or doctor's office.
