Thank you for waking them. You ARE supposed to wake them unless the dr says not to because some babies will quickly become failure to thrive if you dont. The people that didnt were lucky. My dr says to wake every 2-3 hrs until certain weight

If you are needing to wake them since they are a newborn and have to eat every 2-3 hours. Try waking them slowly but changing their diaper in a low lit room. Usually the gentle moving around change to body temperature will wake them up enough to eat.

I’m 40 weeks and 4 days with my first so I’m not sure how to wake them. But I have taken classes at our hospital and they told us the “never wake a sleeping baby” is out dated. Newborns need to be woken every 2-3 hours to eat. Also if you are breastfeeding this lets your body know how much milk to produce.

My son is a late term premi and couldn’t gain weight for a few weeks, our pediatrician told us to wake him up every 2-3 hours to feed him. As annoying as it was, it was obviously better for him. I’d ask your pedi if you’re concerned
