Help! Schedule the induction? Or keep going?

Question

Hey all! I’m 40+4 today and still no sign of baby coming. Last appointment I wasn’t dilated at all and afraid that will be the case today as well. I’ve heard mixed things about electing to induce but most I’ve read is about inducing before the due date. I’m past the due date and trying to decide if I should just schedule the induction (and not have to be pregnant anymore) or let my body run its course and see if I can start labor on my own. Thoughts?

Wait it out you’re not really over due until 42 weeks. Give yourself at least until 41 have them do a NST to make sure everything is okay and keep waiting it’ll be so worth it ! As long as nothing’s wrong with baby then it isn’t time trust me it’s way better having a surprise I was induced a week early with my last for no reason at all and I wish I wasn’t I’m now 40 + 3 and still waiting but planning a home birth

Personally i would be inducted because later you wait more likely something could happen

I had my first child last week 2 weeks early via scheduled induction due to blood pressure issues. I was terrified of the stories and complications I heard about. Nothing will completely ease your mind but I wanted to share that I had a lovely experience. (As labor goes) I was 1 cm dialated when I arrived Sunday night they the inserted the cervadil at 8 pm they broke my water the following morning at 7 am  and let me have a little breakfast them started me on the pitocin about 8 am. I progressed rather steadily throughout the day each cervical check I was pleased to hear I was continuing to change in dialation, effacement, and the babies station. I was able to move around my room and sit on the ball etc. I went 5 hours (my choice) unmedicated before the pitocin was kicked up enough to give me no breaks between contractions (it felt like a rough mensuration cramp that wouldn't let up) I opted for the epidural around noon. I was able to get some rest and the nurses continued to turn me ever 30 mins or so to keep labor moving. My OB came in at 3 pm and told us I was progressing well and expect the baby by the next morning (this was only slightly discouraging, I was ready now! 🤣). At this I was a 4cm 80% effaced and babies head is down to +1 station. At 6 pm I had been sitting up in the throne position in the bed and started to feel light-headed and nauseous. The nurse turned me to my right side and I was starting to feel a lot of pressure in my bottom and the peak of the contractions in my back even with the epidural. I told the nurse and she checked me. She sad it was time to call the Dr! About 8 pm we started some practice pushing she told me don't push too hard and the asked me to stop because we could see the babies head and the dr. Hadn't arrived yet. 8:15 Dr. got gowned up we pushed about 10 more mins and baby boy slid into the world. I had wonderful nurses to answer questions and assure me what was normal and my OB was very patient and honest when I voiced my concerns. 24.5 hrs from the time the cervadil was placed to delivery and about 13.5 hrs of true active labor from the time they broke my water.
