Advice for doing away with the bottle?

We plan on going cold turkey this weekend and putting all the bottles, nipples, etc. Away (baby brother due in November, so we aren't throwing then away).  Any advice?  How long did it take your little ones to make the switch and not be upset if you went cold turkey?  He drinks water and things from a sippy cup, but his bottle of milk is his comfort item.

We did cold turkey.  He was more attached to nursing and we just used the bottle twice a day after I stopped nursing at 13 months. Then cold turkey at 16 months.  It took a long weekend for him to stop looking for the “baba”.  I guess it depends on how attached your kiddo is too.
We give him a sippy cup of milk and a few crackers before bedtime now: he loves it.  He calls his milk cup his “baba” too 😂

Cold turkey was the only way for us. We were expecting another baby too so we just put them all away one day. We put her to bed with a stuffed animal instead and let her know we were still there every so often until she fell asleep. We did that over the weekend and by Monday she didn’t cry or fuss anymore and just went to sleep from then on

Now we don’t even do that. He no longer needs milk to go to bed. We just stopped offering it as an option. 
I felt mean at first but took maybe a week? I just said we don’t have anymore milk. I have to go to the store tomorrow. And offered a cuddly toy.

We went cold turkey at 16 months after trying unsuccessfully to slowly replace from 12-16 months. The first 3 days were pretty bad and he wasn’t drinking much, but he still slept fine and had water. Within 2 weeks he was back to drinking the normal amount of milk. We switched to a soft spout sippy initially but after tearing through 2 in 3 months, we now give him milk in the insulated Tommee Tippee for 12+ months and a Playtex sippy without the valve at school. He mostly drinks water from a Gatorade water bottle or tiny Dixie cups.

We went cold turkey at 14 months, two months before her sister was due.  She did just fine which was surprising to us since she refused everything but the bottle up until 12 months.  We went cold turkey with the pacifier just after 18 months too.  There might be a few hard days but you have to stick with it.

Going thru same thing now.... but we have a 4 month old so can’t cold turkey and remove all bottles. 
I’ve decided to take them both off at same time once my 2nd is a year or less. Oldest one only gets a bottle of sugar-free almond milk at bedtime. He is VERY attached to his “baba” so we’ve been nervous to try and take it away.

I wouldn’t recommend doing everything at the same time as that’s tough. I’d do one thing at a time

Why do you want to do away with them if you don't mind me asking? I think it's nice when the kiddos can find comfort
