Have you started potty training?!?

Have you started potty training with your July ‘16 baby and if so, what method did you use and how did it go for you? We are about to start with our little boy and I was hoping for some momma input!

Completely potty trained here! We used the 3 day boot camp method, as described in “Oh Crap! Potty Training”. Hung out on tile and hardwood floors so she could learn that sensation meant time to say “potty please” or we had a big mess on our hands. The end of day two seemed like we weren’t ready but I was told to push through to day 3 and it’d be a success and it was! But you don’t leave your house/hard surfaced floor for 3 straight days. So stock up on groceries, activities, and patience. It was a learning experience for me, as well. Learning her potty schedule and signals. Once you take off the diaper, it doesn’t go back on except for nap and night time. Most helpful tool: Patience. Those muscles are sphincter muscles and tension will not allow them to use the bathroom. My friend had to put underwear on her little boy on day 3 because he could pee without feeling a thing, where little girls have it run down their leg. So keep that in mind, too. I literally take her every hour. Or soon after she eats or drinks. Today she actually went with out me asking if she needs to go. I’m proud.

Technically I haven’t started yet. But since he was 1.5 I got him the potty from Walmart that looks like a real toilet and since he turned 2 he has gone into the bathroom with me and sat on his potty (clothed bottom) now he is starting to say me pee when he pees and if we are anywhere without a potty chair he gets mad he can’t sit on the potty. When I took him to my aunts daycare he sat on my lap pointed to the bathroom and kept saying me pee not 2 minutes after I changed his diaper so we where like ok let’s just see what you do. Needless to say he did NOT go in the potty he apparently JUST went in his diaper when he was saying me pee. He knows when he is peeing and when he has peed but I don’t think he can tell when he NEEDS to pee. Needless to say tho I have bought pull ups and I am going to start soon. My aunt said to put him in pull ups during the day and diapers at night and take him to the potty every time I change him, when he wakes up, just before bed, and to keep an eye on when he pees and time it. Then take him potty that often. She said my cousin (her first born) went pee every 20 minutes so she took him to sit on the potty every 20 minutes
