how do people buy cars?

so people buy cars in payments right? is it rare to pay full price or something?

You get a loan and pay a certain amount up front. Like I paid 3000 up front and the rest is on a loan for the next 4 years. The faster you pay it off, the cheaper it'll be since there's less time for interest to add up. I recommend getting a credit card when you turn 18 and pay off the entire balance every single month so at the end of every month there is $0 on it. That'll help you build credit for more things in your future. The better your credit, the easier it is to get approval for cars or a house and it'll be cheaper too because they'll give you lower interest rate

I saved up for both my cars and bought them off craigslist in cash! My dad knows lots about cars so he helped me out a lot, otherwise be careful when buying thru strangers on Craigslist lol.

We always try to find used cars and pay full price. You save soooooo much money that way. If you make payments you end up paying a lot of interest and each payment you only pay a small amount of the actual price of the car.

I bought my car from a used car lot, paid in cash the same day. The way i look at it is usually payment plans are for leased or financed cars from dealerships, while used cars from lots or auctions or Craigslist are just a one time money exchange.

I refuse to purchase a vehicle with payments. My first vehicle was $500 it was an Amish owned work truck that my dad's boss sold me the second one was a $1000 Taurus I found for sale in someone's yard. My current vehicle I found at a used car dealership  and paid $3000 tax title and out the door. I used my entire  tax refund for that one.  In my opinion for your first car a beater with a heater off of Craigslist or your local newspaper or Facebook is just fine.

People can pay full price or choose payments but the amount that you have to pay each month with payments is based on your credit but some dealerships don’t check credit and also with monthly payments you have to put a down payment
