Coffee & weight loss?

So I’m getting back into the habit of conscious eating and calorie counting. I have a hand to mouth complex, a sweet tooth and I’m greedy. In the past, I’ve kept chewing gum on hand, chugged water or ate a pickle when I get a craving. That worked well for me. I had coffee this morning and it wasn’t bad. I’m not a coffee drinker at all; I desperately needed a boost to wake up. So now, I’m thinking of adding coffee to my arsenal. Coffee with minimal creamer should be fine, right? I’m not concerned about the creamer; I manage my calories well when I actually care. Not being a coffee drinker I’m not aware of whether coffee has negative effects on weight loss. Tell me what you know or your experiences with coffee -with minimal additives- and weight loss.
