This was my second baby, so I expected him to come early

This was my second baby, so I expected him to come early! (My first came 4 days early). However, this baby boy came 3 days late. After trying lots of tips (strong red raspberry leaf tea brew, pineapple, walking, and evening primrose oil), I started having contractions on the 15th and planned to stay at home as long as possible (I was hoping for another natural, no epidural birth).
I went in that evening with strong contractions 4-5 min apart. I was 4cm dilated but ended up going back home after walking at the hospital for 30 min without progressing. (I’m a slow laboror)!
After a long night of contractions, (still way more restful being at home then at the hospital overnight like my first birth), my Doula came in the morning to work with me at home. She was amazing both with pain management & trying things to move that baby along! After a nice warm shower, we decided to try again in the afternoon of the 16th since my contractions were 2-3 min apart and very strong.
I was at 6cm so they kept me at the hospital! A couple of hours later I was almost fully dilated and the doc gave the green light whenever I felt the urge to push. After pushing for several contractions, the doctor suggested I try a peanut ball between my legs and lying on my side for awhile & then she would come back. This was because baby’s head kept going back up/couldnt get passed my pubic bone. After 30 min of this, I couldn’t take not pushing anymore so I used the birthing bar to get in more of a squatting position. My Doula, husband, mom & sister were a huge encouragement to me during all of this! After one really good push I could tell he was finally coming and my husband had to ask my sister to run & go get a nurse because baby’s head & shoulder were already out! A nurse ran in to help and with one more push I had my beautiful baby boy! 8 lb, 10 oz! My sister could hardly get out the words “baby!! Head!” to the nurse! We will laugh about that for a long time :) So thankful for the Lord’s goodness and for our sweet & healthy boy #2!
