Where's the option for nothing? We both have 401k's, but our actual savings account has $5 in it. We do everything with money we have available or we don't do it.

Being that we’re only 30 years old, not a whole a lot.

We have around $40k in savings and checking combined and $20k in IRAs.  We are fortune to have what we have and also own our house with no mortgage.  That helps

In what context? In retirement accounts? In a regular bank savings account?

If you exclude debt it’s not really a fair assessment. Our debt is in our home and if you subtract that then we have nothing, which isnt true at all because our home is worth a lot more than what we owe...

This made me feel poor lol me and my fiancé’s saving is almost 2,000 and I’m only 18 so I feel like that’s pretty good🤷🏽‍♀️ 😂

My husband has an inheritance, which I am grateful for. I recognize how lucky we are to have it and we never touch it unless it’s an emergency, i.e. putting a fence around our house after we got robbed. We also have about $20,000 in savings and a $15k investment fund. My husband is SUPER good at creating a budget, budgeting, and investing. He literally has a spreadsheet and every expense is documented. If we go over in one area like food or personal, we do not spend any more on that area for the month. Our monthly income is about $4k and since we started budgeting we have consistently been able to put away $800-$1000 a month. 
We keep essential expenses as low as possible. Our mortgage is only $775 a month and we don’t have a car payment. We don’t have cable, our on the cheapest phone plan possible (Total Wireless), and challenge ourselves to only spend $40 every time we grocery shop which is about 4-5 times a month. I have student loans I pay on every month which account for about $1000 of our monthly income. We live a mile away from where we work so gas costs are minimal.
