Are rock n plays safe for baby to sleep?

I think rock n plays are cute and convenient but, I'm nervous to let my LO sleep in one.

Not to mention, the Rock n Play was removed from storms in Canada for quite sometime as the Canadian government took issue with the fact that it does not meet safe sleep standards. When they did allow it to be sold again, it has been renamed Rock n Play “SOOTHING SEAT” (instead of “sleeper”) and the packaging was changed removing that claim that bay can sleep all night long, and instead warning that the product is not intended for overnight sleep.

Side note: Extended time in the rock n play has also been linked to flat head.

They’re fine as long as you’re awake and watching baby.. they’re not recommended for sleeping through the night or unattended

I was petrified at first but it was recommended as the safest option by the pediatrician because m son has HORRIBLE acid reflux.

Not according to safe sleeping recommendations. They’re fine if you are actively supervising the baby while they’re sleeping though, just no unsupervised sleep.

My pediatrician said this was our safest option for the newborn stage as my LO had awful silent reflux and would silently choke randomly throughout the night. Once she was a few months older and able to roll to her side, this was no longer a safe option.

We used it for short naps when I was there watching baby. Not for anything longer than that though.

They also make baby’s head very, very flat. My friend’s baby would only sleep in a rock n play and needed a helmet to round out her head again.

My daughter sleeps in hers overnight. Her pediatrician said it is okay until she starts rolling over. My husbands cousin also put her baby in one overnight

Great for naps in the same room as a parent but I didn’t do over nights. We used the arms reach co sleeper for that
