How much money do you have saved?

Just trying to get an idea of how poorly I’m adulting 😐 #drowningindebt

We wanted to be debt free (besides the house) and have at least $10k in the emergency fund before baby. 
This year we paid off our last debt, my student loan and have successfully saved 20k so far. I’m pretty grateful for our situation.

My husband has wanted kids for a long time and kept bugging me about it so we sat down and made a plan, I told him if he wants to start a family he needs to have atleast 15,000 in savings for our future baby, we also need to move to be closer to family and he needs to get rid of his 2 door car. A few months later he got a new job, moved us across two states to be closer to our family in Canada and had enough in savings. We’re expecting baby #1 in March! 
Honestly it’s good to have a couple thousand in savings maybe start with 3-6k just in case of an emergency at all times regardless of having a baby. I think as long as you have savings/stable job/home life your ready for baby 😊 maybe start a list of all the baby things you will need and the cost of it all then figure out a budget to save for them plus alittle extra for your actual savings account in case of emergency 🚨

We have debt (school loans, car loans, and mortgage), but we also have savings because that is what will get us through difficult times, like now when I’m taking unexpected medical leave for an unknown amount of time.

I have 1,000 saved right now but atm it's almost impossible to add to my savings since I'm supporting me and my SO on my 300 a week salary and my now unaffordable 1700 a month rent 😅😅 got my parents helping out with what they can so the money that doesnt go to food goes straight to them for now. also 24 weeks pregnant soo really got that adulting thing at a high point right now 🤭🤭

I’m hoping to have more saved than nothing before baby comes. The va(husband is a disabled vet) has been jerking us around. And we own a business and just started a second one so money always fluctuates since we don’t have a set pay check every week.
