High amniotic fluid?

Can anyone explain what high amniotic fluid means? I’m 31 weeks and it’s 20cm

I had dangerously low fluid with my son and he was born early, my sister has high amniotic fund and just had her daughter last week. Not sure how to explain it but I know too much is better than not enough! Extra monitoring.

It could go away at some point depending how many weeks you are. If not It puts you at more of a risk of preterm labor because of the weight of the fluid. Also if you’re close to term it’s more of a risk of prolapsed cord if your water breaks. And a few other rarer things. I would stress 😘unless it’s superrrr high even then it can always change
