spotting?

hello everything, my DH and I have been TTC for about 6 months now. just the other day(6 days before expected period)I noticed I was having like a brown discharge that happened for 2 days it was like it was barley there. today I noticed some pink spotting. I am now 4 days away from my expected period. I haven't really had any cramps and my boobs always hurt around my period anyway. what do you ladies think? and I know it sounds cheap of me but could I get a few cheap tests to test every few days? I don't really have the money to spend $50 on a few good preg tests..
