Are announcement photos overrated/a fad?

Do you think this is just a fad ? Overrated ?
Everyone keeps asking how I’m going to announce on social media ... am I the only one who thinks it’s dumb ? I’m not a celebrity or anything do people even care ??? 
Am I the only weirdo who feels like the announcement photos are a dumb trend that needs to end ?

I mean, none of my family or friends live near me so it’s a good way to tell them all at once, plus it’s cute! All due respect, Let people be excited and extra if they want to be. You don’t have to do one if you don’t want to!

I agree. I think the whole idea of announcement photos and gender reveal pics/parties are silly. Sadly it comes down to the social media age where everyone thinks they have to post everything online.

We announced on social media because both my SO and I have large, spread out families and the idea of telling everyone individually was exhausting. I also have a lot of friends from high school and college that have spread around the country so overall it was just the easiest way to tell a lot of people at once. I also want to have a way to document my pregnancy for myself, my family, and my future daughter that’s basically impossible to lose - my SO lost nearly all of his childhood and family photos in a flood when he was younger because they were all hard copies. This way, my child and my SO and I can all look back at our journey through this pregnancy whenever without fear of losing photos (we also have hard copies that I’m going to make into a scrapbook or memory box). Plus I just think it’s fun to announce on social media, sue me 🤷🏼‍♀️

We announced on social media because we both have family across the country and outside the country. But it wasnt something that we agonized over and had to ask a bunch of strangers for their input (no offense). I took a pic of my SO trying to fit a car seat on the back of his motorcycle and the caption was, "He has 9 months to figure this out." Simple. Nothing over the top. And it fit our personalities.

I don’t really like it and probably won’t be doing it either, or at least not in a big way. Most friends on Facebook are not really that close and don’t care that much so it’s only worth putting effort in with those who are close to you I think. Every time I see yet another Facebook over the top announcement on my feed I roll my eyes a bit and continue scrolling ha ha. It seems like a lot of people care more about Facebook announcements than the things that matter which is a strange... I get that it’s big news it just don’t think it’s a main step. The medical tests and telling those close to you are far more important x

I mean, I think it doesn’t super matter. We announced on FB with a selfie and that was that. But I don’t begrudge those who want to do something more “produced” to have as a nice memory. That’s just not really our style.

I completely agree. I mean I'm not going to tell people they shouldn't do it if they really want to, but it's definitely not for me. I don't see any reason to do it.
