Using the potty.?

Should kids get rewarded/punished for using the potty or having an accident. 
Comment how you feel! 
If yes when do you stop rewarding and punishing them?

My daughter gets rewarded but never punished. That’s what they call it an “accident”. My daughter now pees without expecting a treat because she has become used to using the potty. She does have the odd nighttime pee in bed still. But that’s okay - into the washing machine ! 
We did treats for a month or two.

I'm not going to punish my toddler for having an accident. I'd rather encourage when she is successful on the potty instead.

Rewarding, yes. Punished??? HELL NO. To me, that’s abuse.

Not sure about punishing. I think that would have a counter effect on my children. But I’d certainly went over the top complimenting them every time they got it right and when they didn’t get it right I’d gently say that’s alright, you are trying, don’t worry, mummy loves you. 5 children, boys and girls, all sailed through potty training, no issues. I did wait till they were more than ready though - usually soon after their 3rd birthday. But all children are different. All the best! X

They should be rewarded but not punished for having ana accident. Learning to control their own bladder is something that takes time to learn. Having ana accident is literally not their fault.

Just so y’all understand not all punishments are physical. Some can be no dessert, no outside time, stupid stuff but doesn’t have to be physical.

They should definitely be rewarded for using the potty but I don’t think punishing for an accident is a good idea at all. Only if they purposely peed or pooped because they didn’t want to get up and go to the potty. But if they tried to get to the potty and couldn’t make it or accidentally went potty in bed, that’s not grounds for punishment in my book. Fear is a terrible teacher.

So.. I'm not sure which to click on... I agree with reward...do not agree with punishing for an accident. If the child intentionally does it, like peeing in their pants out of spite (my younger brother did that once 😂) then I would punish them but never for an accident.
