Okay, so bit of a back story.. I never had a baby shower with my firstborn (A girl) as we lived too far from any family or friends. Fast forward to five years later and were in the process of fostering to adopt an infant boy. Due to him being in another state, he won’t actually be placed with us until December.

I have a really good friend who mentioned the other day that she wants to throw me a baby shower in celebration of this new little guy who’ll be joining our family very soon. Of course I’m thankful and slightly excited about the idea, but am nervous as to how people will react about it.

My mother isn’t totally on board with the adoption yet so it’s making me a little more nervous as to how she’ll react to my friend asking her be involved in the planning. I’m afraid of being judged or mocked, I guess.

So I guess my question is, would you attend a baby shower of a friend whose adopting?
