My MIL tries to visit once a month since baby was born 8 months ago. She lives two hours away so she stays with us in our tiny one bedroom apartment every time she visits. She just gives me such anxiety!

She makes comments about our parenting and how overprotective we are. Last visit she even said “I’ve been looking at the baby and she actually might be beautiful.” Like what? She also comments on my baby’s development and where she is or isn’t every time she visits. What things we can do to bring her up to speed in her development. I feel like she observing me and my baby every time she visits.

I know she has a background in child development but I just want her to be a Grandma.

She also decided that she is coming to our place the weekend before Thanksgiving to celebrate the holiday because she chose to go on a trip on Thanksgiving day. Mmm 👎 so we need to host a dinner because you chose a trip? Nope.

Rant over. I know It could be worse. Just had to let it out 😑 I am grateful she wants to be around. But how do I set boundaries?
