Low AMH? No worries!
Hi All,
I felt so inclined to post something positive and informative for anyone that is worried about their AMH level.
I am 31 years old, and my husband and I have been trying to have a child for a little over a year now. I have had two very early miscarriages during that time. I’ve been hounding my OBGYN for testing and have completed all testing for hormones, vitamin levels, glucose, and autoimmune and clotting disorders. I have also had a vaginal ultrasound and HSG done.
All of these tests came back normal or in the “normal” range. I always come on here after receiving test results to compare to others, and started freaking out because my AMH level was only 0.82 and my FSH was 7.7.
For about a week, before I went in to see a fertility specialist, I was distraught thinking that I wouldn’t be able to have children naturally, or even at all. That basically my time was running out.
I am here to be the first one to say that my endocrinologist didn’t even bring up my AMH! I actually asked him, “Isn’t this a concern?!” And his response was, “I don’t want you to worry about that at all. That number is a reference for me to see how many eggs you might give me to work with for IVF (which I am currently not undergoing at this time). There is also no consist research showing that that number means you have low quality eggs.” “If you are young and healthy, which you are, doctors make assumptions that your eggs are just fine.”
I just found this super reassuring and wanted to share the reassurance with some of you. :)
