Told no!?!?

Question

My doctor wants me to stop breastfeeding so she can change my meds. I talked to my lactation consultant and she said I can continue to BF because it doesn’t cross the milk barrier. My doctor pushes me to stop bf every appointment I’ve had so far since he has been born! 
What would you do?

1. Change doctors.
2. I use LactMed which is a collation of studies done on the effect a variety of medications have on nursing infants. My pro nursing family doctor told me when I started taking one of my medications that I absolutely had to stop nursing, so I looked into it on LactMed, did a ton of research, asked my LC and found nothing so I went to see him and I asked what he was basing his recommendation to stop on (if he could show me the research then fine, I'd consider it). He looked..and looked...then called the doctor he had received his information from to clarify...and he was wrong. Almost 6 months later still happily nursing :-)

Ummmm that's not her place.  I'd def be looking for a different dr.   I'm 100%positive you can find a dr who supports your decisions

If you want another opinion on your medications and how they effect breastfeeding, talk to a pharmacist. They could give you and your doctor some great information about medication half life and if/how it effects breastfeeding.

Umm no!! You continue to breastfeed for as long as you please (if it doesn’t affect your milk of course) 😒 I hate doctors like this.
