Both of mine smiled at four weeks. My first smiled at his dad first and my second smiled at me first. I don't think many parents actually mistake gas smiles for real smiles. There is a very clear difference between their facial muscles with different types of smiles. I haven't managed to get my September baby to smile on camera yet, but these were taken at four weeks of my first baby.
