Are babies tested for stds when born?

I have genital herpes and gave birth to my son vaginally but I didn't have an outbreak. Does the hospital automatically test babies in situations like that when they are born or does it have to be requested?

I’m in the same situation they took precaution and prescribed me some medicine before my due date happened they never mentioned and I never thought about it because the labor was such a horrible time and recovery, till one day my daughter had a terrible outbreak and soars I panicked and I didn’t really want to tell the pediatrician but did anyways and she said she’d go ahead and test her but it was most likely a negative, which all they did was take a swab tests of the soars and it did come back negative but I actually never thought of this till u made this post 😒

If they knew your situation before hand I’m sure they would’ve tested.
