How are you healing from your c section?

Question

Tonight is our first night home after two nights in the hospital. It’s tough. Besides dealing with a helpless newborn who has need that have to be met, my milk supply hasn’t come in yet, and also physically trying to mend and recover from major abdominal surgery is so hard. 
Please tell me I’m not the only one.

I had an emergency c section in the evening if the 31st. I had my dressings taken off today, but still in a lot of pain, but it is much easier than it was in the first couple of days. My milk took ages to come in so was dealing with the trauma of the section, then the pain, and the hormones, and the no sleep, and then feeling like I was starving my child. It’s an awful feeling, but it’s important to let people know how you’re feeling. It’s a vulnerable time for us. I wish you luck in your healing process. We’ll get there, a day at a time.

It's definitely not easy! I'll be having my 3rd c section Friday. Having a good support system definitely helps. I stayed 3 nights with my first and four with my second. I felt like I needed the time. Let your SO do the diapers and everything except for nursing. Move around a little going to the restroom and maybe just a walk around you floor or room. I think it definitely takes about 3 weeks to feel much better. Take your meds round the clock until day 3 or 4 ;) Good luck and Congratulations!

I had one2.5 years ago and I have another scheduled in a week. It’s sooo hard and I really wanted a VBAC for that reason. This time I got special high waisted panties, a recovery belt and I ordered a doc-a-tot so I don’t have to get up to nurse. Accept help, and your partner will have to really take charge— I didn’t change a diaper for a week with our first. Good luck, you’ll get through it!

I had a c/s Saturday and am still at the hospital, they’ll let me stay until Wednesday. I woke up very sore today and am grateful for pain meds! I read before I came in to walk, walk, walk. As soon as they let me I got up and moving, I’m sore but I know it could be a lot worse and is for some women. I honestly think if I hadn’t been through so many uterine surgeries and procedures that were some of the most painful experiences of my life that this would seem so much worse.

I’m so sorry your having a hard time! I spent 4 nights in the hospital after our son was born last Monday via c section (2nd c section). I stayed longer due to my blood pressure being out of control (still is) and I feel lucky having those extra days to heal there. Since being home I haven’t been in pain and able to move around fine. I recommend a postpartum belt for support\! Maybe that will help hold things together and give your back support. I’ve been wearing one since the third day after my c section and it helps!!

I’m a FTM and have a scheduled c section for the 15th so I don’t know what recovery is like but am interested to see what people say. I know it’s probably so hard but just try and stay positive and just take it day by day and don’t be afraid to ask for help. I’m sure you will get into a routine and start to have a new normal and feel much better. Wishing you the best of luck! You can do it :)
