Anyone have an unmedicated birth they can tell me about?

I’m going for no induction, pitocin, pain meds, or epidural. I realize things happen though and I want to be realistic.

I had a 30+ hour labor with 4 hours of pushing, completely uneducated. If meds were available, I would’ve asked for them in a heartbeat but we were at home and I’m so happy that option was removed. 
It was the hardest, most amazing, most powerful thing I’ve ever done in my life. I wouldn’t change a thing, except maybe having a smaller babe to push out (9 lbs and I’m only 110 lbs)

I did! I used a labor tub at home, and it was amazing. My labor started at 19:30 on October 9th, which is when I started timing my contractions. They picked up crazily fast, going from one minute every seven minutes apart to 40 seconds every 2 minutes apart by the time it was 21:30. Which was when we also called the midwife. Just FYI, here in the Netherlands they come to check you, leave if they see fit, and come back evey 2 hours up until they feel delivery is close. Which is exactly what happend when I was already at 4cm! They told me I could get in the tub if I wanted (you can’t get in too soon or it’ll slow down labor). So I did shortly after. They came back 1,5 hours later, and I was only at 5cm, so they broke my water to keep things going. Contractions picked up after that so I was happy to get back in the warm and relaxing water! Seriously, being in the tub reduced my pain with a good 20-25% compared to laying on the bed which I thought was pure hell😱 The next few hours went by crazy fast, my contractions became very intense and at one point there was no break in between and one contraction followed the next one right away! I was warned for this phase, that it would be intense and that most women panicked at this particular moment but that it meant that you would be able to start pushing soon! However, arrogant as I was I thought I would remember that and wouldn’t panic but I still did, lol! It was my boyfriends cue to call the midwifes again since he knew delivery was close, even though I didn’t realize that! Nobody expected me to go from 5cm to 9cm within 1,5 hours, so when the midwives came they were slightly rushing to set things up, and told me I could do some ‘practice’ pushes if I felt the urge. As soon as she said that I felt a shift and thought this might be the urge, and boy was it.. I gave a tiny push like pushing out a tiny fart(lol) and all of a sudden my body took over and pushed with a force of nature I had seriously underestimated, it was no joke!! But it felt really good, the pain from my intense last contractions was gone and I was really focused on pushing my baby out. This was at 02:00, and soon after I could start pushing for real, floating in the warm water of the tub which again was amazing! At 02:20 my daugther was born! 😊💗 I did have a few 2nd degree tears but we suspected that was because she had one arm next to her head so she came out waving to us 😂 had that not been the case I likely would not have torn at all, rumor has it a waterbirth tends to benefit to that as well! Sorry for the long story but my point is, I obviously would recommend a waterbirth!! It was a godsend 🤗

I was 40+4. Started having contracting 6-7 minutes apart around 3am. 5min apart at 5:30am, so we headed to the hospital. Pain was very manageable until around 11:30am: I was up walking around, took a shower, bounced on the exercise ball, etc. Wireless monitors allowed me to do all that! At noon the contractions became much more intense, so I got in the tub and labored there until it was time to push. Honestly I was so in my own little world that I don’t even know when I would’ve asked for an epidural! I pushed for about 45 minutes - by far the hardest part! - and baby boy was born at 2:33pm. I needed 3 stitches but didn’t even feel the tear. Overall a great, even if intensely painful, powerful experience.

I gave birth twice unmedicated. Your body can do it, you just have to believe it and trust your body. That’s what I did and I survived:) good luck to you!

I had two unmedicated births and if we were having more babies I would do it again. But I think I’m pretty lucky to have had two pretty short births. They didn’t get really intense until the last two hours before birth, and the babies both came pretty quickly.

my forst, i was induced but my second was 100% unmedicated at home. like not even a tylenol after. it was painful, but to be expected while birthing a human, lol. it felt similar to my first, which i didn't get any pain medication for, even if it was an induction. but so much faster than my first.

I didnt want an induction either but when your 41 weeks+ your exhausted and lumping extra weight around really takes a toll on your body. My knees felt like they were crumbling and still suffer at 12 weeks pp. I was unmedicated and had 1 hour and 5 min labour from start to finish. Was very quick for a ftm. I was looking up hypnobirthing breathing techniques  and that helped me through contractions and also I found standing up right until having to push LO out very helpful at speeding labour up.
