34w5d & being induced *UPDATE*

On Monday I woke up to my underwear soaked and some bloody mucus. I went to the hospital and learned that I was 1cm dilated and 80% effaced. They did a test called Fetal Fibronectin and it came back positive, meaning that our daughter would be here within the next week. They also did a test to check for a amniotic fluid leak and that came negative. No amniotic fluid leak, so they said. They gave me a steroid shot to boost her lungs and told me to come back in 24 hours for another.

Tuesday I woke up and what I thought was urine ran down both legs and continued through out the day. I got to the hospital for my second steroid shot and I asked for the on-call Dr’s opinion (same on-call doctor as the day before) and she did another test to see if it was amniotic fluid and it came back POSITIVE. My water had broke and the on-call doctor thinks that it was leaking Monday, but the test didn’t catch it.

I’m now 13 hours in on a low dose of Pitocin and our little girl should be here by this afternoon!

She arrived at 1:34pm, 5Ibs 3oz, and 18 inches long! She’s doing great right now. She is in the NICU right now getting some tests done.
