PLS HELP FAST! Toxic Shock Syndrome?

Question

Is it possible to get TSS if I am not on my period? I’m supposed to get my period today, so I put a tampon in. I’ve had it in for about 4.5 hours but my period hasn’t started yet. I suddenly stared to feel super lightheaded and dizzy and overheating. I then started to feel nauseous and threw up. This all happened really fast. I took out the tampon but there was no blood on it. Could this be TSS or am I just sick? I’m also worried that maybe I left a tampon in from yesterday cuz I also put one in just in case and am almost positive I took it out but I’m really forgetful. If my period didn’t come would it even give me TSS?

From what I understand, TSS has less to do with your period and more to do with the bacteria that leaving a tampon in for too long can breed. You need to go to the ER really quickly. Better to go and get checked out.  All the best.

I have no idea if that’s what you’re experiencing or not but yes, absolutely. That’s actually why you aren’t supposed to use a tampon if you’re not on your period. I’d seek medical attention.

I’d go to the doctor. I thought you got TSS from leaving old blood inside too long, buuuut no. (I didn’t get it, I looked it up). It’s not a good idea to use a tampon unless you ACTUALLY need one.

I believe you can get it from the tampon itself. Not anything necessarily to do with your period.
